The Story Behind Afrotaste

Rooted in Tradition. Inspired by Home.

Afrotaste began as a shared dream between two friends Ruth Chepleting and Dawn Erhabor who grew up surrounded by the comforting smells and bold flavors of Nigerian and Kenyan kitchens. From festive family gatherings to everyday meals, food was always more than just nourishment; it was connection, identity, and love.

Our Vision for AfroTaste is to become not just a recipe collection but a cultural archive that inspires pride, educates the younger generation and connects diaspora communities back to their root.

Honoring Our Culinary Heritage

From village kitchens to modern city homes, the recipes we share come from generations of cooks, mothers, grandmothers, and food lovers who kept our traditions alive. Every dish on Afrotaste tells a story — of a place, a time, and the people who shaped it.
We believe in preserving these flavors not just for nostalgia, but to educate, inspire, and empower a new generation of food explorers. Our goal is to create a space where African cuisine is respected, remembered, and reimagined for the world.
By honoring our roots, we’re building a future where African food stands proudly on the global stage — rich in history, flavor, and soul.
